Plain English summary: Going Out has no account. On first launch it creates a random identifier for your install so your saved places, taste preferences and alerts stay together. Drive co-pilot is optional and off until you turn it on; while it is on, your location is used to find places near you and works in the background, with a persistent notification showing it is running. If you post a review, we store your rating, optional name and text, linked to your app identifier, and reviews are shown to others. We do not store your raw location, we contain no ads, and we never sell your data. Email support@kibuglobal.com to request deletion.
KIBU Global Ventures LLC ("KIBU," "we," "us," or "our") is a veteran-owned limited liability company registered in the State of Oklahoma, USA. We operate the following products and services:
This Privacy Policy applies to all of the above. By using any KIBU product, you agree to the collection and use of information described in this policy.
For users in the European Union and European Economic Area, KIBU Global Ventures LLC is the data controller responsible for your personal data. Our contact for GDPR purposes is support@kibuglobal.com. Location processing for Drive co-pilot, including background location, is carried out only on the basis of your consent, given when you turn the feature on.
Going Out does not ask you to create an account. The first time you open the app, it generates a random identifier for your install. This identifier does not contain your name, email address or phone number. On iPhone it is stored in the device Keychain and can survive a reinstall; on Android it is stored in the app and is lost when you uninstall. We use it only to keep your saved places, taste preferences and co-pilot alerts together and to deliver notifications to your device.
Going Out lets you post a review of a place. When you post a review, you provide a star rating (required), an optional display name (up to 40 characters), and review text (up to 1200 characters). Your review is sent to our server together with your app identifier so we can rate-limit posting and block abuse. Published reviews are shown to other users with the name you chose, your rating, your text and a date.
Reviews pass through an automated moderation check before they appear. If a review is rejected by moderation, we retain the rejected submission, linked to your app identifier, for a record of moderation decisions and abuse prevention. In other words, content you submit may be stored even if it is never published.
You can also report another user's review. When you report a review, we record the report, including the reason and your app identifier, so we can act on it. This means a report is linked to you as the reporter, even though it is not shown publicly.
| Data Type | Source | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| App identifier (random, per install) | Generated on your device | Links your saved places, taste preferences and alerts; not linked to your name or any account |
| Saved places, visited places, and taste profile | Your activity in the app | Backed up to our server under your app identifier so they can be restored; the taste profile decides which places Going Out highlights and alerts you about |
| Notification token, platform, app version, and approximate area (a grid cell roughly 5 km across) | Registered with Apple or Google if you allow notifications | To send you Going Out notifications such as local events and co-pilot alerts; the approximate area is never your exact position |
| Precise device location (while Drive co-pilot is on) | Device location API, with your permission | Sent to our server about every 25 seconds while co-pilot is on to find nearby places that match your taste; used to answer each request and not stored as coordinates |
| Co-pilot alert history | Generated when the co-pilot alerts you | Saved so you can review alerts under the bell icon; includes the place, its location, and how far you were from it |
| Reviews you post (star rating, optional display name, review text) | You, when you post a review | Stored and shown to other users; linked to your app identifier for rate-limiting and abuse prevention |
| Moderation records, including rejected submissions | Automated review moderation | Retained, linked to your app identifier, as a record of moderation decisions and to prevent abuse |
| Content reports you submit (review reported, reason) | You, when you report a review | Recorded and linked to your app identifier so we can review and act on the report; used for moderation and abuse prevention |
| IP address, request metadata | Server / Cloudflare | Security, abuse prevention, delivery |
We do not store your raw location coordinates. Our server logs record only a shortened app identifier and counts, never your latitude or longitude. Co-pilot alert history records the places we alerted you to, not a continuous track of where you went; because alerts are only sent for places near you, this history reflects the general areas you passed through.

Drive co-pilot is optional and turned off until you start it. When you tap DRIVE to turn it on, Going Out begins using your device's location to find remarkable places near you that match your taste, and it alerts you about them as you travel.
While Drive co-pilot is on, location works in the background. Your location continues to be used even when the app is minimized or your screen is off, so the co-pilot can keep finding places for you while you drive. Whenever background location is active, Going Out shows a persistent "Drive co-pilot is on" notification so you always know it is running. Location streaming stops the moment you turn Drive co-pilot off.
Your location is sent to our own servers (Cloudflare) solely to match nearby places to your taste and to generate co-pilot alerts. We use each location to answer that request. We do not store your raw location coordinates, and we never sell your location or share it with third parties for advertising. You can turn Drive co-pilot off at any time by tapping DRIVE again, and you can turn off location access entirely in your device settings.
We use the following third-party services to operate Going Out. Each has its own privacy policy. None of them receive your data for advertising, and we do not sell data.

|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare (Workers, D1) | Your app identifier, saved places, taste profile, notification token and approximate area, and co-pilot alert history | Hosting our servers and database and backing up your experience |
| Apple Push Notification service | Notification token and notification content | Delivering notifications on iPhone |
| Google Firebase Cloud Messaging | Notification token and notification content | Delivering notifications on Android |

| OpenStreetMap Nominatim | Location coordinates | Turning a location into a town name |
| Wikipedia / Wikimedia | Place names | Place photos and descriptions |
| Transitous | Start and end points of a route | Train, bus and tram directions |
| Anthropic (Claude) | A place's public name, type and city for descriptions; review text for automated moderation | Generating place descriptions and checking submitted reviews before they publish |
| Google Fonts | Standard web request | Loading the app's fonts |
| Apple App Store / Google Play Billing | Subscription purchase | Handling the subscription (3-day free trial, then $3.99/month); we never see your payment details |
Service providers that process data on Going Out's behalf act as our processors and do not use your data for their own purposes.
| Type | Purpose | Can opt out? |
|---|---|---|
| Essential (local storage) | Storing your app identifier, base location, saved places and subscription state | No - required for app function |
